Opening a web design studio or a web templates site?
30.July, 2009
What do you think would be easier to sell web design… by opening a web design studio (if a client comes start the design from zero) or by creating a templates site where if the clients like any design they can just download it at a price?
Hi, I think both ideas are great
But from my point of view I think it will be easier to open a web design studion (this is my dream). Now I have a site were I posted all my work as a freelancer http://www.designsflash.com .In my case I work alone. If you have a team I think that creating a templates site is better
! Hope you start one of those project and make a lot of money
Good luck !!!
I need a website for my [business… let’s say “pet grooming business”], and it’s kind of specific/technical. Are some companies better at meeting my needs?
There are so many websites out there, and I don’t want to pay thousands of dollars because I’m not a multi-million dollar corporation. Are there website companies for regular business owners?
Website design/hosting companies come in many shapes and sizes and fit the needs of those they specialize in serving. Look for companies that service businesses that look like they would be similar in size and scope to yours. Many website companies cater specifically to the small business owners, and as a result do a better job managing, designing, and maintaining a small website with very specific needs. Shop around – you may be surprised to find a company that has designed for several pet grooming shops.
Do You know of any Collector Sites or Secondary Market vendors?
I am looking for the Roman Inc Impressions Bliss Angel #62334
10 1/2" tall -Hand-painted Seraphim angel figurine. Crafted and painted from resin, porcelain powder and marble dust. Designed by the award-winning Master Sculptor Gaylord Ho. Perhaps there is a collectors web "ring" or other websites I can try. I am trying to complete a set. Thanks for any information!

I already know basic html, but I wanted to learn more. Any site that is free or cheap and easy to learn from that you know of would be great! Thanks!
You say you already know basic HTML, so I don’t think that http://www.w3schools.com/html/ is what you need.
There is a website called Advanced HTML for Beginners http://www.ahfb2000.com/ , but again in my opinion it’s not what you need.
Now that you know basic HTML, the best way to learn HTML/Web Design is:
* Learn CSS – http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
* Look at other people’s designs at Open Source Web Design (OSWD) – http://www.oswd.org/designs/browse/
That’s how I learnt advanced HTML and CSS. The best way to learn is to learn from the masters. Just select a design you find appealing, and analyze its code (you can download the code at OSWD; for other websites there’s view->source).
Also there are some good tutorials at:

How much can I earn by doing website design?
30.July, 2009
I’m thinking of learning web-site design as one of my hobby and I would like to know what is the average income of designing website.
What is the price they usually charged to hire people to design their website.
What are the programs that I need to learn to start designing my websites?
Our senior web designers make around $95-250/hour depending on the type of work, if on an hourly basis. This is in Manhattan, where prices are higher.
Otherwise, a general idea is that a professional website designer can charge anywhere starting at $500 per custom-made page. That means that the page is created entirely by them, from their own imagination. Otherwise, if you are simply copy pasting a template, then $50-100 should do just fine.
It really comes down to whether you do customized work or you simply copy and paste into existing templates. If you want to be dishonest you can always charge high prices for template work as well.
What is required background to be a web designer?
30.July, 2009
Hello everyone, I wanna be a web designer but its difficult to choose between science and commerce;
which stream i should go in?
hmmm, this question kind of goes in many different ways but I will try to answer what I think you’re asking.
To be a web designer you need to be a creative person that is smart enough to be able to work with technical tools and produce visually appealing websites. If you are not working with a company you should have some entreprenuerial skills and be able to negotiate costs and not undersell your services. It helps if you are a child of web 2.0 as this is the way the world is going. So really you have to be skilled in both science (the art of manipulating technical code to output a desired result) and commerce (the ability to create solutions good enough to make money for you or your company) I think if you are mostly creative, you should go the creative route. If you are more business minded, you should go the commerce route. If you are both and driven you should be very successful in about 10 years.
Aside from the job of Graphic Designer and Web Designer… What kind of job can utilize graphic design and web design skills?

difference between e-commerce and web design?
28.July, 2009
can anyone please tell em the difference between e-commerce and web design.
i’m looking to do the either of the course or both combined. can anyone recommend where i can do a training for this.
alsso the aim of studying the courses is to be able to design and set up a website and start selling on it.
thanks you advice will be appreciated
E-commerce is selling online, ofcourse you need to design a website to sell it, so you would need both. The best way to learn how is to go to your local book store and get a book on php, html, css, and mysql.
