I am a web designer from India. Does any one offer Web Design jobs. I can assure quality service at much affordable cost, when compared to global charges. Please email to webdesign@vyttila.com or call me on +91-9895276934 and I will provide you my portfolio and other details.

you could subscribe to
http://www.getafreelancer.com
and bid there for requested websites…
good luck

P.S. you should had posted a URL to your portfolio with your question. It takes 1 sec to click and view your work and many people would had the opportunity to check it out.

What are the major things that a web designer should know/have a good understanding of (for example programming languages or Photoshop)? Should I get started on my portfolio now? I am a sophomore in high school (10th grade). And what electives should I be taking?
Also, how is the pay for a web designer (both free lance and one assigned to a company)

The first thing to consider is that you will be competing with cheap labor from India and other foreign countries. If you really want to get into web programming/design, you will need to know most of the following: HTML, DHTML, XHTHM, XML, XSLT, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, Java, JavaScript, Graphics Design (Photoshop, etc…), Web Services, SOAP, AJAX, OOP (Object Oriented Programming), and SQL (TRANSACT and PL/SQL). I would start with HTML and XML, then go from there. The two leading technologies appear to be .NET and Java but the two are generally mutually exclusive.

I am targetting small businesses for small websites. Nothing special, no e-commerce, just a web presence. A three page website. What would you pay for that? And does your estimate include all charges (hosting, domain and design)? And what would you pay for updates to your website?
Examples:
A: www.thewebdoor.net
B: www.getaktiv.net
C. www.centraloregonacupunctue.com

Are you providing flash? Rolling text? Animation? Multi-color? Back drop?

Or are you putting together something as watered down as Yahoo answers for example?

If it’s a watered down, generic template than I would say $100 would be fine. It would probably take a entry-level designer approx. 45 mins to put it together. But keep in mind that it must be secure.

Hosting? There are companies that will host a site for as little as $2.99/mo. Domain, that is another $24.00/yr, and again the design is can be as piss poor, or elaborate. Depending on the creativity, and knowledge of the designer. Your question is too basic. It’s almost like asking a person how much they are willing to pay for an automobile.

Why not offer e-commerce? It’s not that difficult to implement. And many small business not only want a presence, but the ability to sell on the internet as well. It reduces there overhead, and is an easy transaction. With the cost of gas increasing, you will find online buyers increasing as well.

Just my opinion though.

Hi I’m a web design student in London and I graduate soon. Last year I lived and worked in San Diego for a web design company and absolutely loved it. I’m determined to get back there to live but it seems so difficult can anyone offer any advice on job hunting, visas, portfolio sites, anything to get me back there really? Thanks!

Unless you can get a company sponsor you for an H-1B visa (the applications can only be filed on April 1 to have any hope of getting one) you will have to get a company to sponsor you for a green card. That takes at least 6 years.

Hi. Could you check my grammar mistakes in my writing. Thank you!

"It offers business to business as well as business to new and existing customer.

Perrys offers a wide range of great deals on new cars, used cars and vans On the left side of the web-page there is an advanced search engine which helps to find the best option from a range of cars. On the right hand side, there is dealership contact box and in the middle between these two sections there is a ‘Hot Deals’ box. Under each search box there is a “Motability” banner which promotes car schemes for disabled people.

The website is comprehensive and easy to use. All items are located in the right place and it is easy to navigate even if you have never used it before.
The search engine is designed to search for the best deals. You can search for new cars, used cars or vans. Most of the new cars offered by Perrys are even cheaper than cars from main dealers.
The main purpose of the ‘Hot Deals’ section is to inform potential customers about fantastic savings and show to them they can buy the same car and save money.
The dealership box contains Perry’s dealers sorted by town, so you can easily get in touch with your local dealer and, for example, arrange a test drive.
Perry’s Motability is a not-for-profit organisation. It is designed to give disabled people access to safe, reliable and affordable cars.

The main aims of Perrys are:
• provide good quality of services to its customers.
• meet customer’s demands and their expectation.
• inform as many people about perry’s deals as they can to sell more and maximize profit.
• attract new staff by advertising their current job vacancies and job conditions on the website."

i would like for it to include the words graphix tho

I work at a club and restaurant, and we use Reduced Printing (www.reducedprinting.com) to help come up with creative marketing strategies and names.

I’m a graphic designer, but just based on what I’ve seen in the industry – Off the top of my head "creative graphix"… but it’s more about the way you design it, more than the name itself

I do a small amount of website design in my spare time, i like the templates from places like Template Monster, and i am thinking about buying some templates from there. Would you say that some companies will buy from places like template monster and then edit it to the clients liking?

Can i do this, or is it wrong?

Thanks

David.

It is possible for some to do this. However, if you are talking about experienced company, then they would already have their own array of custom designs to modify that they have created over the years. Not to mention, that it does not take long to create a website in the first place.

A web designer able to work for giants such as microsoft, yahoo or google. And if you could give details on the job of the web designer…. what does it consist of?…what the web designer should do or know?
In as much details as possible.

Choice is up to you totally. There are many technical things following a specific web designing course. If you see in accordance with today’s technology go for the following sequence:

1. HTML & CSS //for designing
2. php
3. ASP.NET
4. Javascript
5. AJAX
6. Flash

If you have good strength in any two of these technologies you’re considered a good web designer :) … stay awesome!

I want to get my bf a labtop thats really good for web design bc thats his major. The only problem is he dosent like mac.

Also, where can I get the best programs for web design? I dont know anything about this and its for our 4 yr anniversary..help!

I would say get a mac – he will love it. I just converted to mac a few years back.

But if windows …pretty much most laptops are all good. Dell seems to break more often. For programs : depends on what kind of web design he does – what does he use ..etc. You might want to talk to his classmates and find out if they are using a specific software – or even if he’s talked to them about what he wants as far as web design software or what not. If he uses flash, dreamweaver, or does everything by hand, etc.

Otherwise, a laptop is probably a good enough gift (actually more than good enough – that is a fantabulous gift! You are an awesome girlfriend!!! If you’re ever single .. )

Okay off track a bit :D

Another idea I would say maybe get him a book or some videos or online classes for him to further his studies. Jakob Nielsen is an awesome author when it comes to web design and web usability and any web designer would love his stuff

"Prioritizing Web Usability" – Jakob Nielsen
http://witchwebhost.com/recommends/jakobnielsen_prioritizing.html

It looks a bit fuddy duddy – a younger and hipper looking book
"Web Pages That Suck" – learning good design by looking at bad design. it’s an old book (1998) but still really awesome
http://witchwebhost.com/recommends/webpagesthatsuck.html

Finally, maybe get him a gift card to godaddy – if he’s a webdesigner he’ll probably want to get his own domains and develop his own websites at some point.

By the way, you’re an awesome gf if I didn’t mention it already at least a few times ;)

Im looking for face to face web design company (e commerce) who can listen and deliver to my web design adult idea. They need to have an office in London.

My budget is £2000

Thanks.

Sadly you won’t get a lot with that budget. At say minimum £500/day for a London agency, it will run out quickly.
