How do I make a Website?
11.October, 2009
I am currently new to making websites. I’m good at the actual design of them but NOT so good at building and actually publishing them. I was using iweb for a while but my free trial is up and that was pretty easy to upload onto the web. The fee to upgrade is 100 a year which isn’t exactly what i was hoping for. Does anyone know of anywhere cheaper but is just as simple that i could make a web page? Any other helpful hints would be great considering I don’t really know what i’m doing at all!
Thanks in advance!

Can anyone help me get a file upload script on a website?
07.October, 2009
I want to build a website that will allow users to upload a file to me. The file can be stores on a server or (even better) sent directly to an e-mail inbox. Can anyone help me with this? I’ve tried eLance…but I don’t think anyone wants to bid on my simple, cheap request. I want to start up a resume / cover letter editing business, and this feature is key! I’d also like to require people to pay (with PayPal) in the same script, if I could!
Can anyone help me out? I can design the page myself with HTML…but I don’t know PHP or any other web programming language.

If I buy a domain through Yahoo, can I have a professional web designer do my page or do I have to use Yahoo’s? The domains on here are so cheap so I’d love to use this domain and just have a someone redo the page. Let me know ! Thanks ![]()

Domain is available with many suppliers. You can buy from any one. It doesn’t matter whether it is Yahoo and a domain provider cant stop you from designing the website. You are free to design it any how. The domain name is just a tag to your website content that can be pulled from any where.
Go ahead and build your page with any design software and send it live using any hosting provider say angelsvista.
Where can I go to get a web page designed for cheap?

I have a working one but would like some help with the server side and database construction and management. Who can help?
I have used freelance web designers from websites like http://oktutorial.com/ , http://getafreelnacer.com/ ,etc. You can also give them a try.
Ebay listings…how to make them look professional? like web pages…?
29.September, 2009
hi everyone
I’ve got my own little business running, here’s my website:
http://www.pcgettafix.co.uk/
and business is slow these days, one of my strong points is selling gaming base units for approximately half the price everyone else does, my thinking is making small profits quickly rather than a possible big profit once in a while… so i want to get a couple of sales done on ebay, which will hopefully spark my business around…
thing is, i don’t know how to list my stuff looking really good and professional. for example, i’ve taken a link at random off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GeForce-9800GT-512-3-1-Dual-Core-Gaming-Computer_W0QQitemZ260414080553QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item3ca1e38629&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177
now how do i got about making that? i have designed a table form template on dreamweaver, but from my experience u can’t just copy the html and paste it into the ebay listing….as the images won’t show up, does that mean…like..for every image i have to upload to photpbucket and leave the html code to each image in their respective "box" in the table form that i copy to ebay?? seems like a lot of effort..is there any other way? or like…another way i can get it to look like that listing??
please guys, any help with any detail would be great:)..and if you’re after a great gaming base unit for dirt cheap then have a look on my site, specify what you want and i or one of my team will get back to you, see the "contact us" page.
thanks! ![]()
Usually this would be eBay templates, and use of HTML to style it.
You can build your own from HTML, or there are a few free eBay template designers. I don’t use them so I can’t recommend one.
For multiple pictures you can either uploaded them to eBay when you create the listing (there’s a fee for each image after the first) or set up your own hosting e.g. Photobucket and link to them from there, which does require a full URL.
If you have an eBay store you can add items and content from the store (like the menu) to your listings automatically.
Auctiva.com can create slideshows and similar to add to your listings.
Anybody know of a cheap and cheerful Hosting company?
26.September, 2009
Hi, I recently signed up for a domain and hosting from a company called UK Web but they took my money and ran and didnt even register my domain. Im looking for a cheap hosting service to include purchase of a .co.uk domain name its only for a couple of simple pages. A website design wizard would be brilliant too. Who do you use? Thatnks in advance.
p.s. it needs to be a UK site, so I can buy a .co.uk domain and pay in sterling thanks!
I use Portland.co.uk who have a package for £11.99 a year, then you just need to pay the ragistration fee for your domain. I’ve been with them for several years, so I don’t think they’ll take your money and run.
I’m a silversmith/jewelry designer. Can I sell on Blogger? How do I add my company to search engines?
25.September, 2009
I have a Yahoo 360 page listed under Jessica Dow, which is open to the public. Somone with experience might get a better idea of the best market for my work after seeing some examples. I also have links there to on-line portfolios and my new BLOGGER page ( which has some larger pictures of my custom work). I already have a few things on eBAY, on a trial basis. But I don’t think eBAY is the right place for work such as mine. Any advice would be very helpful. I’m planning on starting a professional web-site, but most of the web-site designers I’ve seen charge prices currently not within my budget. I know there are site-builders, but I don’t want a cheap knock off design ( template ) for my site. I want my site to reflect the same quality and beauty as the work I sell there. If that means I have to wait to hire a high priced professional, I’ll do that. I’d appreciate hearing of any other options.
That’s a good idea–I’d first thoroughly read Blogger’s TOS (Terms of Service), their rules, etc. To make sure, I’d e-mail them (there’s most likely a contact link somewhere on the website) asking about your business and your ideas to sell on Blogger. It doesn’t seem necessary, but imagine your site being shut down to all the customers and the consequences of breaking the rules (if there are any against it, that is).
As for getting it noticed, a good first step is to get a ‘dot-tk’. Basically, you pick a URL for your website (like mydesgins.tk). After that, you submit your Blogger URL, and anyone who types the URL from .tk is will be redirected to your site. So if they type in mydesigns.tk, that will be the URL in the bar, but your Blogger will load. It does have one page of advertisments beore redirecting, but it allows you to put in keywords to help people find your site on search engines. Even if no one uses the .tk URL, just having your site up on search engines is a benefit itself!
As for a professional website design–I’ll make you one, free-of-charge. No links, nothing. I know, coming from someone you hardly know (and for free), it sounds like I wouldn’t be able to do a quality job, but I will–I’ll do it because I enjoy it. Contact me with details if you want me to make a layout, good luck with selling!
upgrade pc for myself: any advice??
23.September, 2009
basically, i am a student who wants to build an educational pc for myself. i do alot of programming, web page design and word processing.
i know it would be alot cheaper to buy one then build one, but i would like to the experince of building one myself.
so can you recommend me a motherboard and a processor as well as hard drive?
what drive drive can i have that read, copied cd, re-writable cd, cd and cd-roms?
thanks
Recommending a motherboard is kind of like recommending what kind of car to buy – it’s really a personal choice.
For the best prices head on over to www.mwave.com and start putting things together, starting with the left column under "barebone systems", then barebones desktops. Choose either AMD or Intel and start putting the pieces together. Add a hard drive, and if the motherboard doesn’t already have graphics, choose a graphics card that will go with the motherboard (typically PCIe). I would also choose a DVD dual layer burner. These will burn DVDs and CDs. Also get at least a 200GB hard drive.
The motherboard is a personal choice, but at least at mwave, you will know what processor is compatible with it by using the dropdown menus. I would also have them test it before shipping, that way any DOA items can be corrected right away.
