Help with e-commerce web design!!?
15.October, 2009
Hi, i have been designing my own e-commerce website on Expressions Web 2. I have been using Pay Pal shopping cart so that it doesn’t get too complicated
My website is to sell items such as mouse mats, watches, key rings with personalised photos.
I want the customer to be able to upload a photo and Preview it on the item before adding to cart.
Im really unsure how to do this. Do i need special shopping cart software etc..
Thanks for any help – much appreciated
you need some form of image manipulation software.. that probably means you need to use something like PHP and the GD library
What’s the best e-commerce platform/service provider out there?
11.October, 2009
Hi, I’m thinking of selling my store’s merchandise online, but I’m not going to do it on e-bay or anywhere like that. I’m building my own website, or rather will have someone build it. But I’m clueless as to where to start, I know I need an e-commerce platform, but where do I get a really good one; with full features and a small price tag?
And should I entrust everything to a single company to handle (web design/ graphics/ hosting etc.) in addition to the e-com system, or should I just hire different companies for each task? Please give any kind of tips that you think will be helpful, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
Thanks for your answers, I will look into them.
However, I still feel I haven’t found an answer. I tried making a list and comparing prices and features, but I spent days doing that, and still didn’t come any closer to making a decision. That is why I need someone to tell me; which are the to most successful, most widely used systems? I’m looking for the safe bet, well-known companies, the Gmail-Yahoo-Hotmail of the e-commerce world.
Please do not advertise your own business, I need an honest, neutral answer
You can take a look at: http://www.threehosts.com/business
There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the E-commerce web hosting industry. They fulfill all your requirements to sell online. By using each of them, everything you need for your business website is provided in one eCommerce Hosting Package.

Is ProStores the best to start a E-Commerce online trading website?
07.October, 2009
I want to start an E-Commerce online trading website and would like to choose a good hosting and web design co to start with, saw ProStores and Ipowerweb, not sure whether these are the best and cheapest, and any one tried before, what’s the experience?
For hosting I use:
http://secure.hostgator.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=jbrink
I tried a lot and they have all the features I need.
I have heard a lot of bad feedback about prostores and I think it’s a bit high if they are charging a monthly fee AND a percent of your sales.
Lots of web hosting companies come with ecommerce programs that can be installed with 1 click and managed through a web browser.
Good Luck!

How can I advance in WEB design? (beyond basic HTML and static pages) What skills and what software do I need?
03.October, 2009
I have created a couple of WEB sites using Microsoft Office Publisher (!). I think it is OK for static WEB pages. But now, I want to advance. I ‘d like to handle databases, to create e-commerce sites, stuff like this. I understand Front Page is no good. I know basic HTML,CSS and MySQL. So what should I do? What is the best way to go from here? I do not want to become a prof WEB developer or en expert, just I need to craft some nice looking, advanced pages. Should I learn Dreamweaver? Is PERLor PHP a must? Whata about APACHE? ASP.net covers everything?
To rephrase my question: which are the best tools one needs to pass from elementary WEB design to a little more advanced WEB developing?
I would recommend that you learn CSS, some PHP and mySQL to begin with. There are lots of great books on these topics, and I would recommend starting at the library to save some money.
If you don’t own dreamweaver, you can get a good text editor such as Notepad++, it is free.
PHP, MySQL, and CSS are all easily available to find sources that are free online to help you out.
Let me know if you would like some more resources and help as this was the delima I was in a year or two ago.
Which webhost is best for e-commerce?
01.October, 2009
Hi
Im wanting to set up an e-commerce site for beauty products but am at a loss to which webhost offers the best value.
I would have approx 20 – 30 product types and already have a web design I would like to use.
I have found 1&1 to be poor on customer service – which host gets the best reviews?
Thanks
Steve

Learning web design, Can you rate my site?
29.September, 2009
My mom and I are have opened an e-commerce business. I used Yahoo Site Builder for most of it, but there were a few things I had to learn HTML codes for. I would describe it’s design as "simple", but my mom says it’s a little plain. What can I do to spice it up a little. Also, I would love some feedback on our products. Thanks for the help, I wasn’t really sure which category to post this in…
www.SweetTreatsAndGifts.biz
Sorry, but the Yahoo Site Builder offers you limited control of the appearance. If you’re serious about opening a store, you should learn how to make a real website.
Oh, and pink is the #1 color to turn off users to your site.
I Need To Create A Professional E-Commerce Website?
26.September, 2009
I am opening an e-commerce business, but I need a very professional looking website…on a small budget. I tried sitecube and I thought I’d really like it, but you can only have 240 products and I know I’ll have more than that. Do you know of any web hosting/web design companies that are reasonable, and maybe similar to sitecube (in that I could basically create my own web pages, but they were very professional looking)?
I work with these guys and they are very professional: http://www.quart-soft.com
With them you can find all web designing services under one roof (including website branding – logo design, visual identity etc.). What I like about them is that they are very responsible and offer free technical support for their clients and are always available for any modifications I want. Their prices are comparatively reasonable.
I am sure they can consult you on any issue about e-commerce website including choice of hosting etc.
I hope I helped you.
