specify exactly what you do… (freelance, webdesign, print design, packaging, etc)
who are you employed with?
do you own your own business?
what education have you recieved?
do you have an online portfolio? if yes can u provide a link?
what are your likes and dislikes about the field?
how long have you been in the field?
Freelance, web design, print design, not packaging. I make websites and Ads mostly with some Photoshop graphics and layouts. I am employed (co-CEO of) Ecio Studios, own my own business, I’m in high school, I have a few online portfolio’s ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/37868328@N08/ ), I love this job, I’ve been in this field for about a year now.

i need help coming up with a name for a graphic design, art, printing, invitations, and making album webdesign?
19.November, 2009
i would like for it to include the words graphix tho
I work at a club and restaurant, and we use Reduced Printing (www.reducedprinting.com) to help come up with creative marketing strategies and names.
I’m a graphic designer, but just based on what I’ve seen in the industry – Off the top of my head "creative graphix"… but it’s more about the way you design it, more than the name itself
What’s the best way to setup a multi-faceted company?

I started 6 years ago, with only the ability to sing (from childhood). From my LOVE of good music, I decided I wanted to dj. After conquering that, I realized that my LOVE for music was greater than just dee-jaying, I wanted to create GREAT music! After the shocking news that I would have to pay to learn, I decided I am going to conquer this with or without help. So, i had sleepless nights, juggling work and school, I finally figured out what I needed at the time.
With no schooling and determination, I not only learned production, I learned ALL of the ins and outs to recording, mixing and mastering. I’ve also learned graphic and webdesign on my own time. I have grasped alot without formal education in these areas, and 2 years of Telecommunications training from DeVry (totally not what i do today). I have incorporated all of this into one business D-lux Entertainment in 3 sections, Music.Media.Design…Need funding info as well as wholesale info and building bigger client base. Thanks
The easiest way to build a client base is advertisement. You can post as many free advertisement initially as possible in websites providing free classifieds. A collection of such websites offering free classifieds is linked to http://www.freewebs.com/freeclassifieds/
webdesign doubt?
14.November, 2009
i use microsoft office publisher 2007 to design my website but the images pictures & background are not visible when i see online. i don’t know anything about webdesign. can any one help me please.
You just need to include both the html file and the image file when you upload it/view it online. When you use Publisher, it doesn’t put the image itself into the file so much as link to the image (it’s not embedded into the file).
Just remember that when you upload your images that they keep the same folder structure as they are on your computer. If you upload them and put them into a folder that is a different name or in a different location (in relation to you html file) they won’t show up. It’s probably best to set up your Publisher file while using image files that are all in the same folder, called something like "images".
Here is a good "how stuff works" page if you want to read about a few of the details:

Good luck.

Web Design Initial Advertising and Marketing Material Help. Please experienced person only….?
08.November, 2009
Hi
We’re a new web design company and we’re on a very tight budget. We can only afford $2000 for initial marketing material and advertising. Here are some of our ideas. Could you please help with your experience which methods works and which methods doesn’t? And how should we allocate the $2000 that we have? Please bring new ideas if you have other method that works!
And what type of business have the most potential for webdesign and web development services?
Email Marketing – $.25 per email
Direct mail by Postcard – $.55 per postcard
Yahoo Yellow Pages – $125/month
Yahoo Local – $10/month
Pay Per Click – $1+ per click
Business Card (5000) – $100
Brochures (5000) – $550
Folder (2500) – $1430
Postcard (5000) – $330
Large Postcard (2500) – $390
Calendar (300) – $360
Bumper Sticker (500) – $800
Laptop Bags – $335
As a web design company, more than other marketing campaigns, the best way to get new clients is to have an impressive portfolio to show them. Perhaps you can work for a discounted fee or even pro bono for some friends or close associates, just to have a portfolio of work to show.
What I see lacking in your list are press releases. Press releases have different uses: they can alert traditional media of your new business (and hopefully get talked about by the media — which means you have to have a new spin or how different are you from the other web design firms). Press releases are also among the EASIEST way to get one way inbound links, and thereby helping you rank in the search engines. PRWeb http://www.prweb.com can send your release and get it through Yahoo and Google News for minimum of $80
The calendar, bumper stickers, laptop bags — I’m not sure those are the most effective means of getting clients to your business especially considering that you have a tight budget.
One important marketing tool you are forgetting is networking. Networking allows you to meet people, other business people who may be interested to rework their websites or create websites. Join organizations and business associations in your area — and budget for membership fees, if any. Talk about your business to them, and they may even refer you to other people who needs your services. Consider joining BNI http://www.bni.com/ (Business Network Int’l.) which is a "business and professional networking organization that offers members the opportunity to share ideas, contacts and most importantly, referrals." Chambers of commerce can also be a good source of referrals.
I would focus more on local marketing, but carefully carefully track your ROI. Yahoo Yellow pages is pricey – so check if it is actually bringing you traffic and customers.
Email marketing where you purchase an email for $0.25 cents is not a good idea. You will basically be spamming people, buying email lists yet these people may not have agreed or wanted to receive YOUR email. Be careful in using this approach as the last thing you want your business to be called is a spammer.
I know that you are just starting, but web designers often find greater success if they offer services beyond web designing. Diversify your services to include copywriting, search engine optimization, handling pay per clicks, or even just site maintenance.
