I used UK2.net as a web host for a while but they were unreliable and there site wasn’t very user friendly. I am looking for a host that is fairly cheap but reliable. I am using my own design for the website NOT a template.
There are a lot of cheap and good web hosting online, here are top 10 web hosting for you to choose, you can take a look, and choose one of them to buy.

Reommend you go with 1&1 Internet Hosting – http://tinyurl.com/1and1hosting . Beginner’s plan is $3.99/month. 1&1 has been in business for over 10 years and have a very broad customer base. Hosting firms come and go, but it’s not easy to operate a business for a long time and yet be financially sustainable.

First let me say I am a professional web designer and you do NOT want to host on Godaddy. it is in my opinion second worst hosting company that I know of.
Go to http://www.samwilson3d.com , there is a list of hosts (right side menu) they all have cpanel and something called "fantastico" the least expensive of these plans is around $50 per YEAR
Godaddy has given me problems of every kind including MySQL and FTP problems and they are just a pain in the butt
Now depending on what kind of site you want, I recommend Coppermine Photo Gallery or Joomla or Zen cart which is a 1 click install using Fantastico, you can make this look however you want bu only using Photoshop and CSS. I would start with a premade template designed for Coppermine and then make adjustments from there to make the site the way you want it.(the template can just be a starting point or you can not use one at all)
Joomla can also be installed with one click using Fantastico and that may also be the way to go.
-there are about 20 different 1-click install solutions that you can install and customize with Fantastico

If you want really cheap like free, try google pages pages.google.com or yahoo geocities ,
its sort of free hosting, but you are limited to a subdomain on googlepages & geo has ads on your website – otherwise I would use http://www.interkeys.com/tophosts to get one for a few bucks a month with 10,000 GIG bandwidth (even unlimited bandwidth and disk space) and rich with features
its up to you how developed a site you want and if you want to use your own domain name
