The developer is the one, behind the scenes, who make the images to "work", writing the codes. It is rare to find BOTH skills in the same person: the designer is an artist, a dreamer, head in the clouds, while the developer is "cold", unimaginative and especially "logic" (two different brain structures!). However... Many newcommers to web "design/development" are half artists who have used some WYSIWYG programs such as Dreamweaver, and promote themselves as "Developers". BEWARE! They are not and never will be! It takes years of experience to code properly, and two month learning Dreamweaver is NOT going to make you a Developer, not even ten years. The two roles ARE combined (even with a third: marketeers who work the commercial contents), as they are ALL required for a successful website. Best are teams: three specialists, but these are rare. "increasingly combined" is incorrect: if you follow the trend of "clients requests", you will soon realise that the "clever clients" post an order for a design and another for the coding. Wise clients have realised that you can't get both from the same individual. Being a coder, I call upon artists to give me images and layouts (My images are just plain boring, but I have come to accept that I am no Dali or Picasso!)<br><b>References : </b><br> The designer is the artist who defines how the page would look, making images.
